The City of Tagaste

This book measures 10 1/8" x  8" and has 21 pages. The text body is in Caslon Old Style and 940 copies were printed on handmade Roycroft paper. The binding variants were 3/4 suede with paper over boards (seen above), full suede, Alicia, or a Miriam binding. There were, without much doubt, at least two separate editions of  940 printed. There are definitely two different limitation statements reading "Of this edition on Handmade Paper there were printed and specially illuminated nine hundred and fourty copies, and this book is # xxx." There was also this limitation statement, "Of  this edition there were printed and specially illuminated nine hundred and forty copies and this is #xxx." Additionally, there was an edition of 50 that was bound 3/4 Levant, specially illuminated, and printed on Imperial Japan Vellum. This book is listed in the 1900 catalog and sold for $5.00
