The book measures 8 1/2" x 5 3/4" and has 175 pages. The book is printed on Kelmscott handmade paper in Old Style Antiqua type in two colors. The printing run consisted of a printing of 970 and a printing of 100, both of which were bound in suede. The edition of 100 and at least some of the edition of 970 have a blind stamped cover designed by W. W. Denslow. The edition of 100 also has special water color sketch illumination.  Both editions of The Essays of Elia  were signed in Elbert Hubbard's name. This specially illumined edition is listed in the 1899 catalog and sold for $5.00 The regular edition with just initials illumined sold for $2.50 McKenna lists this as being printed in an edition of 960 vice 970.
